Egmont National Park is a protected mountain sanctuary rising sharply from the surrounding pastures of New Zealand’s Taranaki region. At its heart sits an ancient, symmetrical volcanic cone wrapped in dense, temperate rainforest and lush cloud forests. Hikers traverse muddy forest tracks and mossy ridges surrounded by towering rimu trees, tree ferns, and dense subalpine scrub.
