About the Malayan Flat-shelled Turtle

The Malayan flat-shelled turtle (Notochelys platynota) is a species of turtle found in Southeast Asia.It is the only member of the monotypic genus Notochelys. It is found in the mainland Southeast Asia (Thailand, Vietnam, Peninsular Malaysia, Myanmar, Cambodia, Singapore) and in parts of the Malay Archipelago (Sumatra, Java, Borneo).

Type locality: "in India Orientali", later restricted to "Sumatra; Singapore" by Gray (1863:177). This species can be found in lowland forests and wetlands, including streams and small creeks. Buskirk, James 1997 The Malayan Flat-Shelled Turtle Notochelys platynota Vivarium 9 (1): 6–9;15
